12th May : The Derek Wishart Classic :

Same liberation as above but this is a 15 bird limit

19th May : The Joe Ringland Skibereen Classic

  On the day, on this wind this was an exceptional performance. Very proud of the effort the birds put in

 

2nd June : The NIPA and EDC were both over the water at Talbenny; therefore we did not race this weekend

 

13th June :  76th and 77th Open INFC Sennen Cove Yearling National

673 members sent 3,984 birds – an outstanding effort on the day

 

16th June – And for the first time this season we get a race that we feel gives our birds an opportunity to contest the Open prizes. It’s been a long wait!

23rd June :  A busy weekend of racing. A Lt NW wind which wasn’t quite as strong as we’d have liked but nevertheless a fantastic set of performances :

In the Fermoy race the first bird home was our no.1 racing cock “THE PIED PIPER”. We are delighted that he won 3rd Open NIPA against 5,495 birds. You can see a picture of this cock on the Kris Wijnant page. This was his last race; he has now been retired for breeding purposes.

In 4th place a fantastic hen “133” who is showing great form. This week she is 4th Open NIPA 5,495 birds. Last week she was 8th Open 1,669 birds. Her mother is “SERENA” who you’ll see on the Heremans-Ceusters page.

 

21st July : Start of the Young Bird Season – 100% returns from Navan which is always pleasing

25th August

A special racing day for us. It was fantastic to see 16 birds racing down the lane together from 190 miles. Fantastic!

9th September :

A busy weekend of racing but some REMARKABLE performances and we’re very proud of our day’s racing today.

First off we sent just 6 to the EDC Skibereen Derby. These were pigeons that had so far been “middle of the pack” for us but we felt they’d appreciate the extra distance. We got them all and finished 4th Club. The 40th Open position was 1755 and we did 1730. Not unhappy with that effort in that race.

 

We also entered just TWO birds in the EDC race from Talbenny in Wales. Our fancied hen responded by winning 1st Club 5th Combine. Again, this was from an entry of TWO pigeons.

 

Our main race was in the NIPA Roscrea race (138 miles).  We had an evil wind at the home end and our early pigeons were getting in each other’s way – that’s how many we had together!   The result is this :

By our reckoning that’s 34 in the top 50 of the Open against over 7,000 birds and 35 in the top 52 of the Open in the NIPA. 

  Some fanciers are telling us that this is an NIPA record. We don’t know about that for certain; but the birds certainly came very very well indeed!

 

 

15th September

Another brilliant day at the lofts achieved by the birds. We sent to Dunmanway in the NIPA. A distance of close on 240 miles.  The birds came like a dream

   (That’s 22 of the top 23 in the Section and 38 of the top 45)

   (That’s 20 birds in the top 118 Open and 27 in the NIPA Open result)

In addition to this we also had the option to choose 5 birds from the team to perform for us in the NIPA 5 bird limit race – same liberation etc.   In the Dunmanway result (above) we initially had 3 birds arrive home together. One of these was one of our 5 selected birds and it’s won

1st Section, 26th Open NIPA Dunmanway 5 Bird

You can see that in this 5 bird race, and the week before when we were 1st Club 5th Combine sending just 2 that we are capable enough of picking our pigeons too

 

23rd September

NIPA Roscarberry YB National

2nd, 4th, 6th and 7th Section F

A really strong performance in this race with early pigeons into our area of the world. It was a tough race with our first bird doing 1148 ypm for the 243 miles fly
