After a delayed start to the season it was good to be back racing again on 7th June. Racing 119 miles from Tullamore with the EDC the birds started with a bang putting in a fine performance under the conditions
In the Killyleagh Club 11 members sent 244 birds and the hens were 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th
The cocks went to the Cloughey Club and were 1st, 2nd and 6th against 153 birds
We ended up 15th East Section (99 members sent 2961 birds) and 24th, 30th, 32nd, 38th and 39th Open (161 members sent 4,682 birds)
The 1st bird home to the lofts was a yearling direct son of “DREAM RODE”. What a breeder this is turning out to be! We only bred from him for the 1st time in 2019 but he’s already bred winners with FOUR different hens including a 1st Open NIPA winner against 4,810 birds
Some start for the son of “BROER GOEDE RODE” x “KITTEL SAFYRA”

13th June 2020
A really diffcult day’s racing. We were only at 119 miles and yet the Combine winner is less than 1100 ypm. It’s a race where the birds did their very best despite the conditions on offer
In the Cloughey Club the cocks were 1st, 3rd and 4th against 221 birds.
In the Killyleagh Club the hens were 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th against 263 birds
At Section level (approx 3,000 birds) we are 1st, 7th, 8th, 16th, 18th, 21st, 29th and 30th (8 in the top 30)
At Combine level we are 5th, 17th, 18th, 32nd, 34th and 39th Open (6 birds in the top 40 of the Open – the only loft to do so)
The first bird home that wins the Club and the Section is a yearling cock that’s actually building himself a nice little CV. As a YB last season he was 12th Open NIPA against 4,810 birds (beaten by 10 loftmates)

20th June 2020
Moving on to the 153 miles mark. Again we split the team
The cocks went to Cloughey and were 1st there
The hens went to Killyleagh and came away with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th against 220 birds.
At Section level we were 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th against 2,739 birds. This was a belting effort by the birds because we never expected to feature at all on a wind that gave us little to no hope really
28th June 2020
After last week’s race the birds did not come out of the race as we would normally expect so we sent a vastly reduced team to Mallow
In Killyleagh we were 1st, 3rd and 4th Club which we were content enough with given the fact that the birds have had a troubled week this week

Next week up saw us across the water at Talbenny
In the Cloughey Club at Talbenny we were 1st and 3rd Club on a really testing race
We also competed in the NIPA Skibereen National where we put up a fantastic effort on the day – our bird battling against the odds to win
2nd Section F, 9th Open NIPA with 419 members sending 4236 birds

5th September – Mallow
Our amazing run of form continues and we win 3 x 1st Combines in 3 weeks! This week they came “as a team” though which is something we’ve been aiming for this last couple of weeks
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th Club Cloughey
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th Club Killyleagh
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 20th Section (38 members sent 783 birds)
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 27th, 38th, 39th and 40th Open (71 members sent 1,696 birds)
The winning hen is the same hen that won the combine 2 weeks ago. She’s a DIRECT DAUGHTER of our recently retired No.1 race cock “THE 50 COCK” when he was mated to a DIRECT DAUGHTER of “THE DREAM RODE” x “CHAMPION BEAUTY”. This means that “THE DREAM RODE” is responsible for 3 x 1st Combines in the last 3 weeks!!!

Saturday 12th September 2020
A day we’ll always remember. What a day!
We sent 5 birds to the EDC Macroom Derby – a distance of approx 221 miles to us. 2 birds arrived together but only 1 trapped – nevertheless we finished 1st, 10th and 13th Open which is our FOURTH Combine win on the spin!
The main team went to the NIPA Tullamore race – a distance of 119 miles to us. In recent seasons we’ve put up some record breaking performances in the NIPA and this is one that is going to take some topping we feel!
We sent 68 – and we had 25 drop together. At Club level we take the first 30 places
At Section level there were 370 birds away. We take the first 29 places and 31st Section.
At Open level 277 members sent 6,528 birds and we win the following
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 28th, 32nd, 33rd, 36th and 40th
That’s THE TOP 25 PLACES with 277 members sending 6,528 birds!

Saturday 19th September 2020
A very different day’s work ahead this week. The wind almost the polar opposite of last week! Again we split our birds which is not something we normally do
In the EDC Skibereen Derby we sent 11 and after 6 hrs 1 min we had 3 together to win 1st, 2nd, 3rd Section, 5th, 6th and 7th Open. A fantastic effort on the day!
In the NIPA race from Fermoy we sent 28 and win :
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th Killyleagh Central
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th Section.
Interestingly, the Red Van Den Bulck hen that wins the Section in the NIPA this week is the same hen that won the EDC Macroom Derby last week!
